ALEBRIJES
The alebrije, a craft invented by Pedro Linares Lopez in 1936, is performed with the technique of paper and board and painted with bright and vibrant colors. Usually alebrijes imaginary beings are shaped by physiognomic elements of different animals, a combination of several animals not only fantastic but also real.
The cartonería, a technique used in Mexico for making piñatas and Judas, is role modeling, usually newsprint, cardboard. The technique used for alebrijes a wireframe or reed, followed by paper and cardboard modeling, which gives finally finished with various painting techniques used.
